I was hunting for a quiet coastal stay between Ulsan and Busan when a friend mentioned a brand-new pool villa resort near Ganjeolgot Cape.
The place is called Ocean Bliss Urban Resort, and the sell was simple: every room faces the sea, there’s a 20m infinity pool, and you can basically eat all three meals without leaving the property.
I went for one night.
Aside from the time it took to unpack and pack, I barely stepped outside the resort.
That tells you most of what you need to know - but I’ll go through the details anyway.

Location and Basics
Ocean Bliss Urban Resort sits at 33-25 Dangmul-gil, Seosaeng-myeon, Ulju-gun, Ulsan.
Ganjeolgot lighthouse is about a 5-minute drive, Jinha Beach and Daewangam Park about 10-15 minutes by car.
Busan’s Gijang area is close enough that this works as a weekend trip from Busan, too.

The resort opened in March 2025, so everything is new - new finishes, new linens, that faint new-building smell still in the air.
At night, the exterior lights up softly and the whole property shifts in mood.
By day it feels like a modern resort; by night, more like a quiet boutique hotel.

Front Desk, Self-Service Cafe, and Bakery
Check-in happens at the main building’s front desk.
The manager walked me to my room directly, which felt more like a hotel than a pension.
If you’re visiting from abroad, basic English at the front desk isn’t a problem - staff here are used to handling check-in, room questions, and reservation help in simple English, so there’s no need to stress about communication.

A small bakery and self-service cafe share the lobby.
If you arrive before check-in time, this is where you wait, and honestly it’s a pleasant place to kill an hour.
I pulled an americano from the unmanned coffee machine and was surprised by how decent it was.
There were croissants, donuts, and a small cake selection.

You can also pick up bottled drinks and small snacks to take to your room.
The bottled drinks are arranged by color in a glass display next to little cupcakes, and it’s the kind of small touch that makes a difference.

The 20m Infinity Pool
On the walk from the lobby to the villas, the infinity pool comes into view.
That was the moment I knew the trip was going to be worth it.
The pool edge lines up with the horizon so the water seems to spill straight into the sea.

The water reads a deep cobalt blue, which photographs beautifully even on overcast days.
On a clear day, I imagine it looks unreal.

I visited in late autumn, so the wind was sharp and I didn’t actually swim.
I sat on one of the loungers next to the pool instead and watched the sea for a long time.
The pool is heated year-round, so spring or summer guests can really make use of it.

The full 20 meters is long enough to actually swim laps in, not just splash around.
Families with kids would love it, and for couples there are a dozen photo-worthy spots along the edge.

The Villa - Private Pool, Two Floors, Sea on Three Sides
There are six room types, all with a two-story layout:
- Emerald Ocean (ocean view)
- Emerald Ocean Pool Villa (ocean view + private pool)
- Emerald Ocean Pool Villa Hinoki (ocean view + private pool + cypress bath)
- Premier Garden
- Premier Garden Pet (dog-friendly)
- Sunrise Family Caravan
I booked an Emerald Ocean Pool Villa with the private pool.
Each villa has its own gated entrance with the room number on a small wall plate, which makes arrival feel very private from the start.

Inside the gate is the outdoor deck: private pool, dining table, lounge chairs, and a chiminea-style fire pit.
At night you can light the fire and just watch the waves, and the staff provides sweet potatoes for roasting if you want a small late-night snack.

The private pool isn’t as large as the shared infinity pool, but it’s plenty for two or three adults.
The next morning I had breakfast on the deck right next to the pool, and it ended up being my favorite memory of the trip.

First Floor - Living, Kitchen, Bathroom
The interior is warm ivory and light wood.
The first floor has the living area, mini kitchen, separate bathroom, and toilet.
Open the floor-to-ceiling curtain in the living room and the private pool plus the sea appear in one frame.
There’s no TV - instead, a projector throws onto a pull-down screen, so Netflix and YouTube look great on a big surface.

The mini kitchen has a small fridge, microwave, kettle, mugs, and tea bags.
Cooking isn’t allowed, but you can absolutely heat up instant noodles or coffee.
The fridge stocked two waters, a Coke, a Sprite, and a canned beer - all complimentary.
That surprised me, because most properties charge you for everything except the water.

The shower, sink, and toilet are all in separate rooms, which makes the morning rush much easier when there are two of you.
The shower has dispensed shampoo, conditioner, and body wash from a hotel-grade line.
There’s a bidet on the toilet, of course.

A friend who stayed in a Hinoki-type villa told me the cypress soaking tub was the best part of her stay.
I’m definitely booking that type next time.

Robes and towels come in generous quantities.
There are separate indoor and outdoor slippers, which makes walking to the pool less of a logistical event.
The amenity drawer covers basically everything: toothbrush, toothpaste, razor, comb, cotton swabs, cleanser, toner, lotion.
The hair dryer was also surprisingly powerful.

Second Floor - Bedroom
Up the stairs is the bedroom with a full glass wall facing the water.
You can lie in bed and look straight at the sea.

The next morning I watched the sunrise from the bed without moving.
That single view justified the entire booking.
The bedding is soft, the heating is per-floor, and it stayed warm all night.

Dinner - BBQ & Bar Dining
The on-site BBQ & Bar is on the third floor of the annex next to the main building.
Reservations are required.
When you arrive, the table is already set for your group.
The ceiling is fully glazed, so you get sunlight by day and the night sky by night, with the sea visible from every seat.

The BBQ platter is KRW 48,000 per person, and the volume is honestly more than two adults can finish.
You get prime rib, pork belly, sirloin steak, hamburg steak, shrimp, cheese gratin, vegetable skewers, fries, sourdough bread, salad, and four or five sauces.

The standout for me was the housemade sauce that comes with the pork belly: yuzu and chili, sweet-savory with a clean finish.
I would have happily bought a bottle if they sold it.
The best part is that the chef handles all the cooking, so there’s none of the prep-and-cleanup hassle that usually comes with pool-villa BBQ.
For me, that alone was worth the price.
Dangmul Hitsumabushi - The Eel Rice Restaurant
The next day at lunch, I ate at Dangmul Hitsumabushi on the second floor of the main building.
The name takes “Dangmul” from the road the resort sits on.
The dining room has three glass walls, so every seat gets an ocean view.
Resort guests get a 10% discount, and walk-in diners are welcome too.

I ordered the signature Hitsumabushi.
It arrives in a wooden bowl, and the first bite of unagi is genuinely tender - I’m not usually an eel person, but this changed my mind.
The set comes with salad, soba, broth, steamed egg, housemade pickles, and a soy pudding for dessert.
The plating is clean and the proportions are right.

Three different soy sauces sit on each table.
The dark one in the middle bottle is reportedly a 100-year aged seed soy sauce, and the green powder is sansho pepper.
Sprinkle the sansho on the eel and the flavor shifts entirely.
That seed soy is mellow, not salty, and adds an unexpected depth.

Complimentary Breakfast - Delivered to the Villa
Breakfast is brought to the villa door each morning around 8:30 to 9:00.
No need to dress up and walk to a restaurant.
The bamboo basket holds a thick ham-and-cheese sandwich, fruit yogurt, and a bottled juice.
The interior of the basket is insulated, so everything stays fresh.
The portion is more generous than most “complimentary” breakfasts I’ve had, and the bread on the sandwich is genuinely good.
I carried the basket up to the second-floor deck and ate slowly while watching the morning light on the water.
That hour was the highlight of the stay.

Pet Garden - Dog-Friendly Stays
Ocean Bliss runs a separate dog-friendly room type called Premier Garden Pet.
Near the entrance of the parking lot, there’s a fenced grass yard with agility equipment.

I don’t travel with a dog myself, but other guests were running their dogs through the agility course and clearly having a great time.
One dog up to 15kg is allowed, and you let the resort know in advance so they prepare the room accordingly.
Honest Wrap-up
What worked:
- The infinity pool and the ocean view from the room photograph well, but they’re even better in person
- The free drinks, snacks, and amenities mean you can pack very light
- Staff were attentive and quick
- Being able to eat all three meals on-site is genuinely convenient
- The complimentary breakfast punches above its weight
What to know:
- Cooking is not allowed in the room, so if you like to prepare your own meals, plan around that
- Some room types are a slightly longer walk from the shared pool
- Weekends fill up fast because the property is still new
If you’re looking for a one-night escape between Ulsan and Busan, this is one I would genuinely recommend.
Next time I’m coming back for a Hinoki type, and I’m definitely getting in that infinity pool.
A quick note for visitors from abroad: card payments are accepted at the resort, including international Visa, Mastercard, and Amex - the same goes for virtually every hotel and restaurant in Korea, so you don’t need to bring cash. And there’s no need to tip anyone here. Korea simply doesn’t have a tipping culture, and the staff may feel a little awkward if you try to leave one.
